Ringtone of the year?
How interesting. The Billboard Music Awards announced a "ringtone of the year award" tonight. Does that seem a little silly to anyone else?
I'm so tired today. Work was a little more hectic than usual, and it took a lot of emotional and mental energy out of me. Physical, mental, and sexual abuse, animal cruelty, ideations of rape, torture, murder and suicide, ongoing violence, all on top of mild mental retardation and serious mental illness... in one case. Just one person. That plus disgruntled clients and suicidal phone calls make for a tough day. It's really sad seeing how many people are so troubled, in just one area even. We're making a difference though... all that gets me through it is knowing my work can help prevent a lot of those horrible things from repeating. But, it's still pretty draining.
Tomorrow night Brett comes back to town. I haven't seen him for nearly two months, which is about as long as we ever go without seeing each other, so I'm getting pretty antsy. I feel so lucky to be able to spend the holidays with him this year. So lucky. I'm struggling with a gift idea, as usual. I want it to be something that really conveys how grateful I am for everything we have... but what kind of gift can do that? After five years I've exhausted all the fun ideas, I think. Hot air balloon ride, treasure hunt, homemade bakie things, engraved things, sexy things, mixed cds, framed collages, piloting lessons, basketball tickets... I'm out of ideas. I really like the whole gift-giving process, but it's a lot more fun when I've got a good idea. Suggestions?
