I finally felt like myself this weekend instead of just being a big bum and slacking off!

I've embarked upon the project of making my apartment more 'real person' and less 'ex-college student'. Which of course involves spending money and shopping, but that's the kind of shopping I love doing. Clothes shopping usually just irritates me, but for some reason I can spend a freakishly long time inspecting rugs, vases, picture frames, etc etc and love every minute of it. It's a work in progress, but I like what I've done so far. Now (among other things) I just need to get a couch from somewhere that will deliver it for me. That way people who visit will have a place to sleep. Ahem.

Most importantly though, I went to the Maryland Zoo this weekend. Yay! Animals! And for free, since it was opening weekend! Silly me, I figured it would be early enough in the year that there wouldn't be hordes of people there. Ha. Oops, was I wrong. Getting to see giraffes run made up for the hour and a half we spent trying to get up the freeway exit ramp and into the park. Running giraffes have to be the funniest thing in all creation. They're all...lurpy and flailing. Totally made my day. We didn't get to see the whole zoo (due to the whole losing time in traffic thing), but we covered most of the cool animals so I'm not too upset about that. Pictures here.

And real Mexican food afterwards at this teeny family owned place was amazingly good. I judge the authenticity of Mexican restaurants by whether or not they have things like horchata on their drink menu. This place passed...and has a number for takeout. Heh. They also had this amazing white salsa cream sauce thing they served with the chips. I got shot down when trying to find out what was in it with a "family recipe" reply. Darn. I'll probably go back just for that...
