Second year of uni is DONE! Almost. But for the most part: DONE!
The third module (involving a work placement) is the only one not over, as the work is not due 'til THE END OF JULY, but as that module is causing me so much grief, I will not talk about it.
However, the International English module was wonderful. I, for some reason, decided to write about Singaporean English for both my assignments, but I'm so glad I did: Singlish is AMAZING. The language situation of Singapore is just so interesting, and Singlish (that is, colloquial Singapore English) is wonderful; complicated but delightful. The particles especially, even though I may never be wise to the meaning of lah and all its intricacies. I am rather pleased with my epic second essay, shame it was a day late :/ I have a Problem with deadlines, I really will have to get my arse into gear next year.
The Japanese continuation class I did this term was also really satisfying. Although it only covered things I'd already done at Yamasa, I'd totally forgotten most of it, and I feel like it's stuck a lot better this time around. I'm hoping that Sensei will find a way to continue the course next year, even if it's just casual classes outside of uni.
However, thinking about miserable uni- and career-related things as little as is practically possible, I have things to look forward to this summer!
Two family weddings (one in Scotland, hurrah! I miss it so much, it's been well over a year since I was last there, and that was very briefly). Hopefully a big doll-meet somewhere in Yorkshire, providing I can actually make any of the dates. The York loli-meet in less than three weeks, which I am reeeeally looking forward to (although eek! I really have to get sewing!). Hopefully I'll be able to get to one of the big car meets or drag races this season, although sadly I've already missed Fins 'n Chrome as my parents were away that weekend.
What else? Hmmm. Other than that (my word, my life is dull!), I hope we have some good weather this summer so I can make good use of the yard. I want dinner parties! And picnics with ginger beer in the park! And warm, balmy evenings suitable for elegant outdoor lounging with cocktails and barbeques ♥.
Right, I should go sort out some dinner before Doctor Who starts. This episode looks amazing, hopefully well worth the two week-long wait. "Biggest library in the universe", you say? OMG, yes plz.
blah blah blah,
