Ex-Ramblings

I went to see Easy Virtue last night, and something the character played by Jessica Biel(I don't like her, but she fit the role perfectly)said really got me thinking. weird, totally uncalled-for stuff about my ex boyfriend, no less. In the break-up scene she said "you should've loved me more" and when he answered "I couldn't possibly have loved you any more" she corrected herself "you should've loved me better". The problem with me and Jan wasn't that he didn't love me enough, but that his love wasn't good enough. When you love someone you stand by them, you back them up, and he never did that for me when I needed his help or support. His need for harmony all around, which in my eyes is in large parts just fear of crossing anybody and having to deal with it, makes it impossible for him to really care about someone. If you have to make nice with everyone, you treat your loved ones the same as some jerk and the next. That's not harmony, that's a weird mixture of indifference and cowardice.
