P. and I got back on Friday from a week in Hawaii to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and I've finally caught up with everything. We had a great time; we went practically everywhere on Kauai and Maui that you can get in a rental car. Good thing I bought a new memory card for the camera - I took over 300 pictures.
Unlike our on our honeymoon, we went to the summit of Haleakala (dormant) volcano on a clear day & could actually see into the crater. We dubbed Polihale State Park "The Beach at the End of the World" after a trek down a poorly marked, unpaved road through sugarcane fields.
Not in Any Guidebook - Kauai is overrun with wild chickens. On our first morning, I heard a rooster crowing & thought there must be a farm near the hotel. By the end of our 3 days, we had come to assume that if we saw another rooster, we must be near a tourist attraction.
