Who are your favourite characters in all of fiction?
I'm curious about why people like certain characters, and if there's any pattern to the kinds of character types they like.

Pierre from War and Peace
Captain Renault from Casablanca (hella witty and morally ambiguous, but he comes through in the end)
umm... I don't know... I really have not watched serialized TV in years. I'm gonna start again after I graduate.
Out of all of fiction, I love Pierre the best. He's so incredibly well meaning, and wants to do the right thing so badly, but he's not a goody two-shoes. He is swayed but his emotions and self-interest despite his good intentions. At times he's really clueless and he screws up in a major way a couple of times. He's the kind of character you can't help but root for.
