My father and stepmother are two of the most impossible people to buy Christmas presents for. There really isn't anything that I can buy for them that they really need or want. Marie works as an interior designer and she is very particular about what goes into her home so I wouldn't dream of even attempting to buy something for the house. They both have more clothes than they know what to do with. They are both avid readers but they get all the books they are interested in from the library. Every year I was driving myself insane about what to get them that wasn't going to collect dust. Last year, I decided I wasn't going to buy them any more " things" . Instead, I donated to two charities in their name. I sent a donation to victims of Katrina and a Big Cat Rescue which I had visited in Florida. My father loved picking which cat he was going to adopt. This year instead of picking a charity for them I found this gift card where they can pick which organization they wish to donate to. I think they will love it and it is something that I can feel good about. It's a win-win present.
