After work on Friday I did the American Cancer Society's relay for life at the Sachem school district. My co-worker Cathy has been attending for several years and she convinced me to help with fund raising and participate in the walk. I am very glad that I did. It took place on the track at Sachem North. The track was surrounded with luminary bags that were decorated by donors in memory of those that we lost or in honor of someone who is currently fighting cancer or is a survivor. When all the bags were lit with candles, the stadium lights were turned off and we followed a bag piper in silence for one lap around the track. I have to say it was both beautiful and incredibly sad.
Saturday, I met Dave's friend Lenny for the first time. It seems Lenny and I have very differing opinions on almost everything He is an anti-tree hugger republican who believes feminism is more harmful than beneficial to women. I have a funny feeling we are going to be butting heads on many occasions. He seems like a very pleasant person however.
On Sunday, Dave and I went to Bryan's where he made us some delicious dinner and I had the opportunity to inquire how I go about getting a gun license. I had planned on heading over to the local precinct today to start the application process but my clumsy ass managed to sprain my ankle while running in the park during my lunch break. Grrrr. I have sprained them both so many times that they give out fairly easily at this point. However, I am sticking to my story that the damn tree root jumped in front of me and intentionally tripped me.
