dont smoke in bed!
Had a fun day at work today. It was very busy and I was stuck answering phones most of the day which is ok, but I do prefer radio, it's a bit more work so it's a bit less boring! :)
Tonight I had my first '88'! 88 is a "major" fire, and in this case it was a poor old ladys house. She'd been smoking in bed and caused her house to burn down. :( When we got the call from a neighbour they weren't sure if the lady was still in the house or not, and I remember in training we were told that you'll be surprised how much quicker the fireys respond if there is life involved.. and it is so true. It took them 4 minutes to get to this house - they were there before you knew it! It's such an awesome thing to be a part of that. I've never turned out the trucks so quickly!! Obviously it is not always going to go to the fairytale plan of everything being ok, but in this case it was. The lady wasn't trapped, but had she of been I am confident that the crew would have been there in time for her.
It was kinda funny, we kept getting calls from the newspapers asking us about the deaths in this area, who knows where they got that from. When they found out that there was no one trapped they kinda just said oh good, cuz we're waiting for Ben Cousins at the airport. Whatever, stupid Ben Cousins what a twat. (for those fortunate enough to not have a clue who the hell I am talking about, he's a huge aussie rules football star who has turned into a male football playing equal of Britney Spears - maybe they should hook up)
Nothing much else is going on, I have joined a gym (again) which is good. I am going to see how I go without a trainer for a while, but we will see!
Anyway, I'm going to bed. It's close enough to 3am and I should be asleep!
