The bundle in my arms felt lighter than I'd expected.
My breath caught as I stared into wide eyes that were as blue as the sky. She squirmed, her forehead wrinkling slightly as she scrunched up her face. My heart swelled with love as I traced the outline of her tiny fingers and toes. She was so beautiful. So perfect. Warm tears ran down my face as I bent to kiss her cheek. I inhaled her scent. She smelled so... pink.
The nurse cleared her throat and looked at me expectantly. Right. She needed a name. I studied the flawless infant in my arms, and the only name that came to mind was my own. Well, men name babies after themselves all the time, why shouldn't I?
I tore my eyes away from my daughter and turned back to the nurse. "Lorelai," I whispered. "Her name is Lorelai.
