Here's yesterday's meme entry:
Day 27 - Best pilot episode
I've spent the last 10 minutes going back and forth in my head between Gilmore Girls, Doctor Who (S1) and The West Wing (Yes, I aware that my TV viewing world is rather small - this is probably a good thing! LOL). The reason for this is that all 3 of these pilots had me hooked almost immediately. All of them left me with an immediate desire for more. All of them delivered (especially since I didn't "discover" them until DVD. With The West Wing it was the sharp dialogue the interesting characters, fast pace, wit and Martin Sheen's show stealing "cameo" that drew me in. With Doctor Who it was the humour, the mystery, the captivating and unexpected chemistry between Rose and Nine. Not to mention CE's excellent portrayal. I was engaged, I wanted more. Like The West Wing, with Gilmore Girls I was drawn to the quick pace and rapid dialogue. The humour was unparalleled and I liked the characters right away. Also, I was instantly enamoured with the chemistry between this Caffeine crazed mother, and the grumpy diner owner.
Thankfully, in all three cases, the shows just got better and better and I devoured all three of these shows on DVD frighteningly fast.
