TV Meme Days 7 -9

May 15, 2010 16:09

Sheesh. I completely fail at this whole posting daily thing. This week was horrendous and I was home past 8 most nights so I just didn't have the energy. I'm posting 3 days worth here to catch up to today and then I will post todays separately. This should catch me up and then I really will try harder to stay on top of this.

Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite t.v show

Again, since I cheated and called a tie between Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls and Doctor Who as my favourite t.v. show, I suppose I have to name my least favourite episode from each.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer ~ "Beer Bad" (Season 4).

It came down to this one, "Inca Mummy Girl", and "Reptile Boy". Compared to the greatness of most Buffy episodes these are all weaker. But "Inca Mummy Girl" and "Reptile Boy" at least have a few redeamable moments thanks to the characters. Even though I dislike the storyline, Xander is adorable in "Inca" and Buffy and Cordelia's bickering it "Reptile Boy" can be funny. But there is very little redeeming about "Beer Bad". First of all, I think the whole storyline with Parker was taken way too far and that it made Buffy incredibly out of character (I don't like the overall arch of Season 4 at all to begin with but this makes it even worse.) Seeing Buffy act so pathetic over a boy who treated her so poorly makes me want to scream. Plus, devolving into cave people? Come on. There are WAY better plot devices out there that could have accomplished the same thing and annoyed me less.

Gilmore Girls ~ "Partings" (Season 6)

The acting in this episode, particularly by Lauren Graham was FANTASTIC, but there is so much wrong in this episode that it breaks my heart and makes me want to scream and throw things. The characters of Luke and Lorelai are so out of character with the people I'd come to know and love at this point that it's bad enough, but for Lorelai to issue an ultimatum to Luke after everything that happened in S5 and knowing how he reacted when he pushed her before was just plain STUPID. I honestly don't think that Lorelai would have done that and it frustrates me to no end. Plus, for her to then turn around and run to Chris? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGH. The show I loved was completely unrecognizable for almost half a season after this and I mark Partings as the beginning of that end.

Doctor Who ~ "The Long Game" (Season 1)

It was between this and Love and Monsters. But honestly, even though Love and Monsters is Doctor Lite and has ridiculous things like heads in paving stones, it still has some really enjoyable moments and there's something about Lynda that's a bit endearing. Plus it has Jackie and I love the way Jackie and Elton are together. The Long Game however is one of those episodes I could easily skip and not really care about. Sure, there are some cute Nine/Rose moments but with Adam there they are few and Adam, quite frankly, annoys me. Plus, I'm not a big fan of the storyline in that episode either. The highlight for me is the end when Adam is proven to be a fool and then we NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN.

Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

The West Wing
This very nearly made it onto my favourite show list, but since I already had 3 shows I couldn't chose between I had to let it go. But, that said, I think the West Wing is the BEST show that's ever been made (best is very different than favourite) and everyone who hasn't already seen it should go out right now and rent the DVD's because you won't regret it. And if you have seen it you should rewatch it because it's just that great. I love everything about this show from the characters, to the cast, to the amazing dialog and very human stories. I've never been a big fan of politics, but "The West Wing" managed to make me care. Trust me, that is huge.

Day 09 - Best scene ever

This goes right along with my The West Wing answer above, because for me, the best scene ever is the Church scene with Martin Sheen in "Two Cathederals". The man should have won an Emmy for this. I could never do this scene justice by describing it so you should just watch it right now instead:
