At times like this I feel like my life is an endless farcical saga
My gosh I've been rubbish at LJ lately. I basically haven't had time to touch my flist since sometime in April. I'm not quite sure how so much time passed so quickly.
If I were to write a detailed account of everything that's happened in my life since then it'd probably take multiple posts so instead I'll give you the condensed version (feel free to ask for further elaboration in the comments).
Basically, since mid-April I have...
*Stopped working at the nursery I loved (because the teacher I was filling in for returned)
*Started a new job teaching year 1 that is at a school that is stupidly far away and poorly managed and demands far, far too much of my time (this job is the biggest reason for my lj absence)
*had an amazing visit with goldy_dollar, shinyopals, starlightmoonla and _thirty2flavors
*been on the Harry Potter Studio Tour
*travelled to Paris for the first time (ish - I was there once before by accident last summer - at 3 am and I was driving. Wasn't so fun)
*moved out of the house I was living it with 4 friends
*bounced between the houses of three different friends/former flatmates and lived out of a suitcase in lieu of getting a new place since I have to leave the country soon
*travelled to Morocco (Fez, Casablanca, and Marrakech)
*written reports for children I barely knew and had 4 emotional breakdowns in a week
*packed most of my things here for storage
*seen Wicked again, this time from the stalls (with shinyopals
*seen Matilda (also with shinyopals (+ sibling))
*seen an amazing, outdoor production of "Ragtime" in Regent's park (nearly got rained out but alas the weather was ultimately cooperative).
*taken the eurotunnel to France with jenepel and some other friends to purchase wine and cheese and then have a little weekend minibreak in Amiens, which was quite lovely.
*royally screwed up my flight back to Canada.
I think I'm missing at least half a dozen major things but alas, it's been a very busy time.
The biggest and most pressing saga in my life at the moment, however is the whole flight back to Canada thing.
Basically, my 2 year UK visa expires at the end of this month and as such I must return to Canada. I'm hoping to return to the UK but that depends on if I'm granted a new visa or not - something I can't even apply for until I am back in Canada.
Now here's the stupid part - for two year I've thought that my Visa expired on July 29th and I booked my flights home accordingly. (which was a stressful experience in and of itself thanks to full flights/price increases). Then, last weekend on our way back from France, the border control informed me that my visa actually expires on JULY 26th!!! Yup, 3 days earlier than I thought. and if I overstay it will hurt my chances of getting another Visa.
Cue frantic, hopeful calls to the home office to see if I could get an extension and calls to the airline to try to move my flight (unsuccessfully). Basically what it all boils down to is that I have to leave england on or before the 26h. Then I can reenter as a tourist.
My soulution: Look up flights for that timeframe to basically anywhere in Europe to find on that I can afford with fligth times that work.
Result: I'm leaving London on the morning of the 26th, travelling to VENICE for three days and returning the night of the 28th so I can make it onto my flight to Canada on the morning of the 29th. CRAZY!
So um, yeah, that's the update on me. There are still photos from various trips that I mentioned, but I haven't had a chance to get them up yet. I'll share them with you once I do.
