Thankful Thursday
I was looking at my journal and realized I haven't done one of these since last year. In fact I've only posted once this year so far. Attack of life? Lazy? =) Anyway, here goes:
1. I am thankful that Lizzie came through her emergency appendectomy well and that she is back to her old self driving me nuts.
2. I am thankful for Georgetown University Hospital. They were amazing with Lizzie and their peds ward is outstanding. They are really geared for kids there. The "play room" has every craft known to woman and the supplies to do them. A wandering minstral came through the ward one night and visited each childs room and played songs and had us sing along. A therapy dog (beautiful full-sized black poodle) came to visit also. Just wonderful.
3. I am thankful for Medstar helicopters. We flew from Calvert Mem. Hosp. to Georgetown. I got to sit up front. Because my 7th sense told me Lizzie was going to be fine, I was able to enjoy the ride. It was really cool. (and I'm thankful to the head nurse at the ER at Calvert. He made sure I could get on that helicopter and not send my baby up there alone.)
4. I am thankful for amazing friends who took care of my other baby when we both needed to be at the hospital. M & M are a Godsend.
5. I am thankful for family. As soon as I called mom to let her know what was going on, she and my dad got in the car and drove down from Jersey. Mom stayed w/ me (and eventually Lizzie) that first night and day and Dad went down to the house to make sure everything was ok there.
6. I am thankful for the leave donor program.
7. I am more thankful for the amazing friends who love me enough to donate their leave so I don't have to go negative or not get paid for 2.5 weeks. Hank, Rose, Susan, and Chip - YOU ROCK!!
8. I am thankful for the hubby who went home from the hospital to look after the boy when I told him to even though it killed him to leave his "baby girl".
9. I am thankful for my Barony which is finally growing a little with some new folks who are even willing to take on offices. And the college is starting back up! They already have their slate of officers and we have some socials scheduled to meet everyone. Very exciting!
10. As usual, I am thankful for my job. I see the struggles many of my friends are going through and know I am lucky to be employed. I continue to hope, pray, and send good Karma their way.
11. I am thankful it is SPRING! I've already been digging in the soil and I feel whole again!
