Holy shit, Soundgarden are touring Blighty! In my own backyard, no less!!! *fall over*
Seriously, Soundgarden was one of my all-time favourite bands as I grew up through the the 90s, and my family very quickly got used to (or simply had to put up with) the iconic Seattle sound blaring from my speakers during homework or chilling out. They split up not long into my first year at university in 1997 - which was gut-wrenching - and I was overjoyed when they reformed over 15 years later, grabbing a copy of their latest album King animal and approving.
I found out by accident late last week, station-hopping on the radio while I was driving home from work one rainy morning, that they were in Ireland. A quick check online confirmed they were touring the British Isles, so without a further thought I was just able to grab a ticket to their last London tour-date next Thursday (all others had sold out). I'm both grateful I was still able to grab a ticket at the last second, and excited to see one of the defining bands of my teenage years.
Doors open at the Brixton Academy Thursday night at 1900hrs! \o/
