The day after Christmas...
Went to Sandy Hook on Wednesday for a little birding. Got there early and saw some Northern Gannets as the sun came up. Eventually I made my way upshore. Took a walk out into one of the coves and noticed some type of hawk hunting over the marsh. Didn't get any super clear shots, but I think it was a Northern Harrier.
As I was trying to track him down after he had landed, something flew out from next to me. It turned out to be an American Bittern! It landed on the edge of the water and I got some pictures before he vanished in the grass.
