It drives me crazy that I can't analyze P.T. Anderson's movies. It works, but I just can't fathom the reasons that made him write in a particular line of dialouge or block a certain shot a certain way. And like I said, most of the time, it works. his dialouge is like poetry in the sense that it's not like spoken language, and there are bits in there I don't quite understand the reason for, or the meaning of. My own work, I can explain the use of allmost every word.
I think that's part of the difference between brilliant and genius in art - in brilliance you can explain the reason for every detail, every shot, every word spoken, while in genius, it just works, and you quite say why.
