What's a Hokie? I am!

Alrighty, so I just got back from my 2 day orientation at Virginia Tech and here is a little summary of all my emotions and certain important details throughout this orientation:
So I arrive in the big city, lol on sunday night with my dad. I go by campus and walk on the drillfield and look at the 4-16 memorial, which I think is a very moving/weird experience. Then we just saw some other buildings and figured out where I'd have to go in the morning etc.

In the morning, I was kind of nervous I was like... What if I made the wrong choice blah blah? Then we did some pretty boring things like take pictures for our ID and yearbook and then look into different programs

Then we were split into smaller orientation groups and ate lunch together and did "get to know you games".. We did this one game that was like "Move if" one person would say move if your favorite color is blue and if you agree you'd move somewhere else in the circle. I went into the center and said "Move if you're voting for Obama in the fall" and not a single other person moved, so it was pretty awkward. Everyone was really down to earth and friendly, which made me excited for the future

We then had down time so that we could move in and then go out to dinner... I moved in and met my roommate for the night and I actually really thought she was nice and we got along pretty well.. too bad we can't request to be roommates now. We talked for awhile about our lives back in our home towns etc and it just seemed easy to talk to her and such. A few days later we decided to room together, so now I know who my roomie is. Then I went to dinner where I ran into Ariana and then later Carly, so it was good to know that I wasn't completely alone.

Later we started our "serious" talks about how we need to kind of open up and kind of learn to get along with all different people and accept others for who they are and not judge people because they have different views than you. I like that, because that's something I'm glad to be leaving behind in high school and it was just comforting to know that college although doesn't completely eliminate this, it is not as big of a concern as it is in high school. During orientation I also got the vibe that what it means to be a hokie is that you in someway help others through various community service projects. Everyone gets involved in someway some small, some big, but all get involved. I know that there are so many things I can get involved with both community service wise and also activity wise.

The rest of the night we were able to either dance in the ballroom or go bowling, play ping pong etc in the rec room, so that was chill. I hung out with Carly and her herndon friend.

The next day was pretty boring, because it was all about your classes etc
I have a 8 a.m class next year, oh no lol!

All in all I really enjoyed orientation and I think it made me more confident that I really did make the right choice in choosing VTech as my future. I'm so excited for August!!!
