I've been basically preparing for one tournament after another. Coupled that with some longish working hours.
First tournament was in Las Vegas, NV. It was the World Archery Festival and Vegas Shoot. The largest indoor archery tournament in the world. Over 3,000 archers participated from all over the globe. It was...intense. The tension and energy levels were palpable and high...which correlated to me not doing particularly well. High energies overwhelm me. Compound with that the stressors of this high profile competition, it makes for a very unpleasant time at the shooting line. But...I survived and I had good ends.
The last tournament was the 47th National Indoor Championships at the Olympic Training Center here in Chula Vista. I did better this one as there wasn't a whole lot of people this time. Only in the hundreds. Still, my mental game wasn't strong and it led to scores I didn't like. The second day was better. I had managed to get my mental game in check somewhat...until I got hurt. I couldn't finish the tournament. I had damaged some ligaments in the rotator cuff. By the final two ends of the match I was in total agony and I couldn't pick the bow up. Ugh.
Apart from archery, I've been dog sitting for a friend of mine. 3 month puppy...I want to say lab mix. It was...a handful to say the least. Full of piss and vinegar, barely understood my commands. It was...hard. If I am to get a dog, it is definitely not going to be a puppy. Two years minimum.
Well I just wanted to write quick blurb just to try to keep this semi-regular. I thought about using this as my archery journal. We journal our progress so that we can look back on how things went. I also go over my journal with my coach.
