Half a month goes by and last year catches up

15 days since my last post. A lot's happenned and I've just been too busy to annotate it.

* Last Thursday, I offered to cover the difference between when Linda left work and Amanda was able to get to work (Amanda's husband is a Waffle House manager and had a very late meeting.) Since Amanda and her husband only have one vehicle, she has to wait until he arrives to come to work. The corporate guys cancelled the meeting and rescheduled it for this Thursday (yesterday). However, this time Amanda's been cleaning up a section of her back yard and didn't notice the large patch of poison ivy covering a large portion of her upper body and face. So Bill relieved me from the stint on my day off around 6 instead of around 7-7:30 p.m.

* I've been taking breaks from solid Brawl play to put more effort into playing Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. I'm really digging it and the Ike overlap is fun (though judging from Ike's model in Brawl, it's him from Path of Radiance on the GameCube).

* Next week marks the first anniversary of my dad's passing. As if mortality weren't already occupying my mind, I find out the large fire in an apartment complex in Norcross, Georgia was at the same complex my sister used to reside in with Jennifer and all the cats. Theirs was the first unit to be immolated, taking just about every cat with the possible exception of Baby aka Danger. Jennifer was nearly killed herself from smoke in her lungs, but was fortunately able to survive being taken to the ER. My sister's only possessions are what she has in the guest room and in her boxes. She just turned a year older on Wednesday, 23 years old I think. Chelsea the runt calico, P.D. the Russian Blue, and Heathen; my feline buddy who always would hang out in my room at my dad's place and whom I'd just paid $164.95 so he could have some veterinary work done...they're all gone. I hold out hope that Danger made it and she'll be able to recover from any damage she may have suffered.

* And now for something I'm quite sensitive about. I'm sure that anyone who's reading this and has met me in person (or paid lots of detail to my few personal youtube videos) has noticed a certain "trait" the moment I open my mouth to laugh, mimic an enraged Louis Black, etc. I'm referring to my teeth. I've decided to finally get them taken care of professionally. However, research leads me to believe I may have dental caries. While large portions of missing enamel can't be repaired I think some of my teeth can be fixed. Regardless, it's going to cost a pretty penny to fix what amounts to rebuilding 5 eroded teeth and likely one normal cavity in my lower right canine. I've been absent in caring for my teeth for years. And like all personal disasters, I didn't really do anything until major, possibly ireversible things had happenned. I've since kept up a constant routine of brushing and using mouthwash. Long story short, I appreciate everyone who hasn't just flat out told me my "smile" scares the hell out of them. I'd continue to appreciate this avoidance while I work on getting them fixed. I figure everything should be in a much better condition in roughly 10 months, figuring the worst case scenario of a root canal goes anywhere from 500-1.5k plus the cost of the replacement materials. And for those curious, no I don't have insurance and I seriously doubt that I could get dental insurance at this point. Once things are better, I honestly think my self-confidence will greatly improve. No one wants to date a guy with a smile akin to an abstract.
