A Cry In The Night

I sit on the bed out on the terrace as I wait for Gaspard to join me. I am curious as to what business this Detective and that angel have with him, but I trust if I must know Gaspard will tell me.

It has begun )

I sit forward and glare hard at him, "You dare declare war without a word to those you expect to fight for you!?"

Standing I move around my chair and stand next to Nicholas, "I do not fear or have any distaste of war, but I demand to know the catalyst! The last war you provoked was over love. Hundreds of years later you still burn for what Michael did to you?"

I put my cigarette out on the arm of the chair then drop the butt onto the floor. "I do what I want because I can Gabriel." I look to Kenta. "He obviously hasn't heeded your stories." Then I cut my eyes back to Gabriel. "I did not provoke the last war. I ended it. Because I could. The reason does not matter."

I stand. "And now I can start a new war, because I want to. I do not need to ask permission. I don't expect you to fight for me. I am asking you to. Or have you forgotten who you are Gabriel. Why is it you sit here under their thumb? Why do you tolerate their rule? Your distrust of me can not be the only reason you are fighting me on this surely as you have done nothing over the last few hundred years to further your own kind. What is your excuse?"

I chuckle. "Don't you want revenge on that little blue eyed devil. Or do you still hold a torch for him as well?"

I laugh, "Elijah? Oh my friend, no. Yes we did try to stop the trinity - and yes we failed - but to want revenge on him directly?" I look at Nicholas, "Well perhaps Christian."

He scowls at me and I can not help but smile. "Perhaps I have gotten complacent in our place, with their rules over the years. I do remember what it was like before."

I look at Kenta and he does believes Gaspard can do as he says. But trust is missing understandably.

"Why should we help you Lord Gaspard? You proved trusting you to be a deadly mistake in the past. What assurance do we have you are not still working for the order? Yes you have Michael's heart - part of it - but I would not put it past even the angels to sacrifice him for their better good."

This makes me laugh and I do. "Come come Gabriel. An Archangel! You really think they would have a say in sacrificing him. No one in history has ever managed to kill an Archangel. Even the big guy wouldn't do that. Why do you think Lucifer sits on his fiery throne? Because the Lord God took pity on him even in his anger and threw him down instead of doing what he should have done and torn out his traiterous heart!"

I look at him in disdain. "I took you to be more intelligent than that." I put my hand out and draw what is left of Michael's heart back into my grasp then hold it up in front of him. "As you can see I am not as merciful. I will have my war. I will win. You can either be there at the top or make your choice now and choose to be at the bottom. There are others who are not as morally judging as you. And I already do not fight alone. My death dealers are waking as we speak. For you see I plan for the future. You can trust in that."

I raise an eyebrow. So the death dealers were not executed? I step forward, "Forgive him - us - Lord Gaspard. But you understand our trepidation. You are a legend and one that is told to the young ones as a lesson to know those you trust.."

Walking closer I place my hand on my chest, "I was one that trusted you, yet I was ordered to die. I know first hand what you are capable of, and the great things you have achieved. But I lost many friends and family all those many years ago. No - we are not all as cold and cruel as you."

I look to Gabriel and his mate then back to Gaspard, "Yet you did what you did out of love. So you are not as cold as you say either. And yet you kept your death dealers in a state as so they may be awakened... this war - is revenge then?"

I look to Kenta. "Do not mistake my ability to love as giving me any measure of mercy in my soul Kenta."

I take the few steps needed to take me face to face with him. "When I ordered your death as well as your families and friends. I did so quite coldly. I will not apologise for that or justify my actions."

The corner of my lip lifts in a smile before my inner rage wipes it off my face and I glare at him. "Just as it was when I ripped out Michael's heart while he begged me for his life and professed his continued love for me. I tore it out all the same." I hiss at him. "No one makes a fool out of me."

I turn and walk back to the seat and sit down. "This war is not about revenge. It is vengeance, on his kind and what they stole from me. Seems I am the only one with the balls to exact it."

It's time this Gaspard learns that I am more than a trophy mate. I stand up and walk behind Gabriel and rest my hands on the back of his seat. "Lords I think we have well and truly established the lack of trust in this room and at this point I no longer think that it is an issue. We are demons there should ultimately be no trust in any of us."

I look at Gaspard. "What I want to know is what you have on offer for Gabriel. What's in it for him if he helps you with your vengeance?"

So the Ulfheonar has a voice after all. Time to get down to brass tacks. "I want Gabriel to be my General In Command." I look to Gabriel. "You would be second in command to me of course but you will have complete control over organising and amassing an army to fight. You appoint who you want and in what capacity they are to serve. But ( ... )
