Dragos is resting and is no longer crying out in pain. I want to go hunt with Alim, but am torn to stay close to Dragos. He has been more of a father than brother to me. He has told me many times if he were to ever perish I would take over his role. I am honored but I do not wish for that to ever happen.
Sitting in the chair closest to his bed I hold his hand as well as Jaco's. Jaco has been sleeping but is now awake and sitting next to me, closer to Dragos' face. I watch as he speaks softly and kisses Dragos. They have been through so much, this has put it all into perspective for them. And me.
I look back over my shoulder at David as he leans against the wall. Our eyes meet and he gives me a soft strong smile. I'm not so sure I would be as strong as Jaco if David were this close to death. A life without him would be so empty. I smile softly back at him then turn to Jaco and whisper I am going for rest, but to call me if anything changes. He nods and I stand.
Looking back at David he pushes off the wall and meets me at the door. I lean into him, "I just need a break for a bit."
