I've been thinking about RPG's a lot lately, reading about world of Warcraft and waiting for 2017 to come around so I can pick it up. I played Neverwinter Nights last year and Di and I have some D2 characters on battle.net (I know its not really an RPG but bear with me)
Well, long story short, Robby was looking for, and I downloaded, Lands of Lore. Anyone else remember it? It's an old school rpg (puzzles and logic games mixed in with combat and levels). Back in the day (circa 94-95) it was a huge game (10 disks!) just silly with graphics and animation. Now the graphics are pretty dated, some RPG gameplay innovations aren't there (teleporting to home base, mana potions, lots of stats) but I still get a kick out of it.
Am I going to turn into a "grouchy old man" gamer? "when I was your age, we didn't have these fancy graphics. We had to WALK back to town to sell the stuff we picked up. No customizing characters, there are 4 pregen chars to choose from AND WE LIKED IT!!!!"
and if anyone from Westwood entertainment is reading this, I paid for LoL fair and square back in the day, so I feel justified in downloading it now ...
