This year we are having a Solstice party. Pirate themed.
To add to our theme I wrote this (emmy and I will be reciting it at the party)
Thought I would share.
(ps. big end-o-the year entry coming soon)
Twas the night before Solstice
Our ship out on the seas
The waters were calm
The wind a light breeze
The crew was quite loud
No man was glum
They hooted and hollered
Their bellies full of rum
My first mate was standing fast at the wheel
Her face set in a smile
Her Scurvy Puppy at her heel
The Quartermaster languished in bed with a sigh
And I the Captain gave her a wink with my AYE!
When out from the deck there arose such a clatter!
I shook my head and bellowed “What the bloody hell’s the matter!”
Out to the deck I strode with a glare
My first mate said “Captain, look over there!”
A North Pole Galleon, gilded and red
Floated to the west, like a giant red sled!
“Avast my maties, we’ll have plunder this night!
Prepare the ship for a glorious fight!”
With a wink and a nod to her head,
My First Mate stepped forward and this is what she said.
“Now Clubfoot, now Peek Eye, now Sally and Fred!
Raise the main sail, full speed ahead!”
And forward we sped into the night, that great floating sled in all of our sights!
As our ship came alongside
Our mouths dropped open wide!
Dozens of elves made up the crew
They had swords and guns, and those damned pointy shoes!
“Now One Arm, Now One Eye, Now Jack the Skellington Head!
Take out those elves, make sure their all dead!”
With a flash of steel, and a wink in my eye,
Across the ships this Captain did fly!
And as I fought, they tried to run me through
Come to think of it Bryan, they looked just like you!
On my crew fought into the night!
By the end we were quite a frightful sight!
Our booty in hand we did sail away
And as we floated on they heard me say!
“Thanks for the plunder! Sorry your crew is mostly dead!
Perhaps next time, try a flying sled!”
