Dragon*Con info and updates!

Aug 30, 2011 14:37

It has been one heck of a long time since I made a public entry here. Not for lack of want! But now I've entered that stage where it's been so long that I feel like I need something REALLY GOOD to say. You think I'm joking, but you haven't seen my doc files full of links and fic ideas and movie reviews etc etc for posting. This is me: crazy.

Unfortunately, this post is all about DRAGON*CON PLANNING! So to everybody out there coming to D*C this weekend, here's the info on me, where I'll be, and the best way of catching me. I know this is going up super late in the game, but hey. It's me. The fact that it's going up at all is SO MUCH PROGRESS. *affixes a gold star to my forehead*

Where I'll Be:
Westin Peachtree Plaza!
I'll be arriving Thursday, early afternoon, barring any kinds of disasters. More on that to follow.
I'll be leaving Monday, sometime in the afternoon, definitely after Wil Wheaton's morning panel and hopefully the String Jam.

Meet Up?
Yes, definitely! I never have all the time I'd like to hang out with people during the weekend, and with added health craziness I can't ever guarantee where I'll be or if I'll be able to zip over for a quick chat. However! I would LOVE to meet up at panels and parties, and while waiting in lines. So, let's make it happen this year!

You can contact me either by Twitter (@thisisyourfault), leaving a comment here, e-mail for those who have it, and phone # for those who have it. If you don't have the latter two and feel like you need them, poke me and I'll provide!

I don't have an exact schedule, due to the aforementioned and the whims of my two roommates, as well as the ever-changing schedule of events at the Con. But, here are some possibilites:

"Tracks" I'll Be On:
Farscape,
Whedonverse,
Trek Track,
Tolkien's Middle Earth,
Writer's Track,
and dashing all around the various Sci-Fi tracks, Star Wars tracks, Anime/manga, Comics, and Costuming.

Concerts/Performances I Won't Miss:
Abney Park,
Emerald Rose,
Jefferson Starship,
Jonathan Coulton,
and hitting the Pandora Celtica, Marc Gunn, Chad Vader, and Mad Tea Party (YEAH, LOCAL BAND!) shows if I can.

Celebs I'll Be Stalking:
Trace Beaulieu
Frank Conniff
Felicia Day
Elvira (bwahahah)
Carrie Fisher
Virginia Hey
Martin Landau (STARS IN MY EYES)
Stan Lee
CHRISTOPHER LLOYD (AHHH SO EXCITED)
Peter Mayhew
Gates McFadden
William "The Shat" Shatner
Mark Sheppard
Brent Spiner
Amanda Tapping
Lea Thompson
Garrett Wang
WIL WHEATON
and many others, but those are the ones I will bend over backwards to see.

Parties I'm Definitely Attending:
Friday 25th Anniversary Masked Ball (10pm)
Saturday Villains' Ball (10pm)
Saturday Jefferson Starship Rock Opera (11:30pm)
Sunday The Grand Pirate and Time Travelers' Ball (8:30pm)
(I MAY attend An Evening in Bree, and the Browncoats: Redemption Wrap Party, but not sure.)

Other Definite Definites:
Thursday Night Celtic Block (7:30pm)

Friday $#*! My Captain Says: William Shatner (10am)
Friday Back to the Future Q&A (11:30am)
Friday Emerald Rose (12:30pm)
Friday Farscape (4pm)
Friday Pandora Celtica (5pm)
Friday Star Trek: TNG (5:30pm)
Friday Mad Tea Party (6:30pm)

Saturday is going to be difficult, because there are a LOT of panels I want to attend that are stacked against each other. Choosing between Back to the Future and Star Trek TNG at 4pm is nearly impossible, Farscape and William Shatner at 5:30pm unfair. So. Um. Saturday will be nuts.

Sunday An Hour With Stan Lee (2:30pm)
Sunday Farscape (4pm) - Unless I'm tempted away by Carrie Fisher's hilarity
Sunday Miss Star Trek Universe Beauty Pageant (5:30)
Sunday Jefferson Starship (midnight)

Monday ST:TNG - Boy Genius (w/ Wil Wheaton & Garrett Wang) (10am)
Monday Fourth Annual Open Violin/String Jam
Monday Emerald Rose (2pm)

Writing Workshops:
I'll be attending a slew of the writing workshops and seminars throughout the whole weekend. Some are stacked against panels/performances I really want to attend, so I'm not sure how many in total I'll be at. However, I opened the invitation to a friend before that if anyone would like notes/video from any of these panels, let me know and I'll hook you up. Info on the three Writer's tracks/workshops can be found starting here.

In Sum:
WE SHOULD HANG OUT. To those I have tentative plans with, be sure you contact me so I can add them into my schedule/calendar.

And, to all those not attending, if there's anything you'd really like (I used to offer phone calls from celebs, but last year they cracked down on that due to some really ridiculous lawsuits filed against the celebs. IDEK. So that's probably unlikely), such as pictures, video, an autograph, etc (subject to free vs. $$), let me know! I'll be doing video for some of the writing panels as I mentioned above, I'll be hanging around the Walk of Fame, Artists/Comics Alley, and the Dealers Exhibits, so I can hook you up. Maybe. XD

OKAY, THAT'S ALL FOR NOW. I was going to ramble a bit more, but the afternoon is waxing away and I need a snack. >_> Potentially more later.
