Behold!

I have begun sampling clips for the first Jigawatt album! I've been pirating licks from a ton of borrowed bluegrass albums 'cause I don't know any badass banjo players. I've got ten songs written that are good enough for the first album, called Aluminiferous Ether (big surprise, right?), and they center around the idea that we all have a fantasy land inside our head as a necessary byproduct of subjectivity. Mine just happens to have flying trains in it!

I also think that if I can't find a banjo player that fits the bill, I'll have to learn it myself and find a double necked banjo/guitar! That would either be so unbelieveably badass, or really silly. Hmmm...

I was invited by an awesome multi-instrumental Berklee student to play renn-faire style guitar for her final exam for the summer semester. She handed me a pile of sheet music on friday. This weekend has been busy.

I have also discovered the the Richards sisters will be coming to my final performance for the Berklee 5 week program, so I decided that my 80's hair metal solo needed a little extra awesome. So I've been working on linking the inversions of the A flat minor arpeggio, so that I weedily weedily wee my way up the neck. It's a bear to play, but sounds most excellent!

On a side note, I was propositioned by a 15 year old girl this week. It was really bizarre, and made me feel really creapy. I had to resist screaming "where the hell were you 7 YEARS AGO!" and simply content myself with an "I'm flattered, but no. I think that would be seriously inappropriate." I mean, my baby brother is too old for her! Of course, I now feel like a cranky old man. I really need to stop hanging out with highschool kids SOON! Which brings me to my next topic...

So the Richards's are coming to Boston this tuesday. I want to do a number of things.
1) Introduce them to Diane and Bill. Diane is an amazing songwriter, and a very good guitarist and pianist. Her band is so amazingly teriffic, and is called Generation RX (clever, eh?) and they are putting out their first album this fall! Huzzah! Bill is a graphic designer, philosopher, and sometime poet. Also an amazing guy. The two of them have the most incredible taste is music, and have been exposing me to awesome new bands.

2) Get them to meet Ben. Looks like a villain from a kung fu movie, and is an amazing electronic musician. If he weren't so dead set on furthering his fairly solid career in his current style, I would do so very much to recruit him for Jigawatt. The man is a demi-god. I smoked his hookah on the roof of his apartment building, and discovered that guinness is really good with coconut shesha. Wierd, hunh?

3) Show them all the fun things in Boston. As I am currently rather ignorant about those things (due to too much music awesome) I've got to find out quickly! Maybe Ben knows some cool dance clubs...

On a side note, hey Obies! did anyone else think that Charlie's dad (in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) looked a LOT like Josh who owns Matix Games? It was so uncanny...

Well, I'm off to continue learning medieval lute music. 4 pages to go! Pink-a-de Plink Plink Plink Pilink-a-de Strum. The la-dy shizzle, a sum-mer thing, yum de diddle da day...

I am convinced that somewhere down the road, these pieces will make it into a pointless metal song about dragons, kings, and the great Gandafini (currently filling in for Roy in Vegas after the tiger incident)
