Imagine the authoritarian booming voice of Merciless Ming Commands sent straight to your IPod on a regular basis, for you to listen to everything morning.

Podiobooks - Serialized audio books in podcast form

Podiobooks is a term coined by Evo Terra of The Dragon Page and Slice of Scifi to describe serialized audio books which are made available in podcast format. Subscribers to the podcast feed for each book will receive a new chapter each and every week. Some listeners keep it on their computers, some transfer the book to CD, but most (hopefully) transfer the file on to their mp3 player so they can listen no matter where they are.

Podiobooks.com gets your book in front of a dedicated and growing segment of the population looking for quality weekly content delivered in podcast form. Where producing an audio book can cost a significant amount of money for the author or publishing house, podiobooks are usually produced for a fraction of the cost. And there are other cool parts, too:

* It doesn't cost one thin dime for podiobooks to host your book and distribute it to the podcatching masses. We don't charge for server space or bandwidth-- regardless of how popular your podiobook becomes.
* We don't ask for exclusivity. If you want to put the podiobook up on your site, great! Syndicate your content, sell it at book signings on CD... it's up to you. We're not a publishing company, but a distribution method to help you reach a new market.
* If we collect any donations for you on our site, you get half the money. Half. Compare that to what artists get from their record labels or the popular music download sites. Then look at the tiny amount of money authors get when one of their book sells. Yeah, we think it's a great deal, too. (Oh, we take the other half and pay for all those other things, like bandwidth, hosting and maintenance.)

Hosting is free, making it an affordable and realistic way for me to get involved. If I can create something suitable to the format, who would be interested in listening to regular spoken word fast fiction?

(Oh, and the relaunch of the blog as "Clevertalk" is almost finished, few more design tweaks and we're in business).
