Wrote a response to the BBC about
this article on their internet feed. Thats two reports I've stumbled across now in a couple of months (and I don't regulary read the news mind you) that start themselves off in the way of: "Japan's manga comics, the highly pornographic, peodophilic ones which are full of DEATH and read by every businessman on Toyko's underground" *growl*
Okay, maybe not that bad, but this is a quote from the above article:
Japanese manga comics, on the other hand, conjure up very different images - of violence, simpering schoolgirls and explicit sexual content.
Reporters on this subject seem to constantly yap about this aspect. There's never a 'oh the art is unique and an interesting style' or a 'manga has cornered the market in its own country with graphic literature appealing to romance of a homosexual kind as well as hetrosexual' (thus being, in someways, more liberal than some of our stuff! Gasp!)
I'm quite quite bored.
