[ At this point, he's glad for the rain and doesn't really payttention, until they've reached the palace, pushing in-- when, just as he's stepping in, burning, crying demon children begin to claw out of the ground and grab him by the ankles, throwing him down and dragging him back, Ranmaru losing his footing and his jaw hitting the ground.]

[He's just about to lower the body gently into the room when Ranmaru's sudden fall nearly destroys his balance. Jerking forward, he drops Mitsuhide onto the carpeted floor (with a silent apology for the rough treatment) and turns to shoot at the demons, emptying two revolvers' worth of bullets into the beasts. Throwing the empty guns aside, he grabs Ranmaru's wrists, trying to drag him into the house.]
