hopefully more than movies. but likely just movies.

So I'm procrastinating on something, and instead of doing something else when I procrastinate I'm going to post here instead.

See, it's my mother's 60th birthday next weekend. My brother contacted me to either write something or draw something to put in a scrapbook he's putting together, so I'm tormented by the lack of ideas I have of something to draw. I even considered writing about how nothing I could draw could sum up how I feel.

Hopefully today I'll come to some sort of conclusion.

Movies!

I saw Iron Man last night, and I really thoroughly enjoyed it. I think even non-Marvel-fans could probably enjoy it just because of Tony Stark and all his snarkiness. Obviously Marvel fans get a lot more joy out of it... especially the snippet at the end of the credits. Goodie goodie!

Atonement. I really liked all technical aspects of this movie. There was a lot of characterful techniques used and all in all I really liked the entire movie. The ending was really good, and not entirely what I was expecting. Also they did like a 7 minute or longer continuous shot which was just breathtaking and also obviously trying to one-up Children of Men.

Speaking of Clive Owen, he showed up in 2 other movies I saw recently. The first was Godford Park which is a whodunit. And that was really fun to watch and I felt like reaching into the screen to strangle some of the characters. So mission accomplished there. I'm not sure if the killer was supposed to be so easy to spot (and the reasoning). It might be, but the ending also had another moment of suspense because you really didn't know what another character was going to do. (Hard to explain unless you've seen it... go see it).

The other movie was Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Which really I could just watch that as a series on TV until forever. I didn't really feel like it was a movie per se. There was just really solid characters and enough going on that it could have easily been serialized. I found out recently that there was a movie before this one. Which I suppose I'll have to go find. Cate Blanchett was fantastic in this movie. Clive Owen was swarthy and a complete dick as per usual. I think he does a good job playing the same character, and I can't blame casting directors for choosing him for particular roles... It's just, gah! "I've seen this guy somewhere before..."

I went to a new dance club recently and that was fun. It was a lot nicer there than I was expecting. Still, couldn't help but feel like a stranger. I guess there are advantages to being mysterious, but the other side of that is I have nobody to talk to. I did run into somebody I knew but I tried to not latch onto him for his sake.

I don't know if I said anything about this on here, but I'm in a Game Design class. Which is where we design board games, card games, video games. The board-game I made is called Convoy! and I submitted it to the Spring Show. I'm hoping I win, but there are some other good contestants in my class so we shall see.

Aside from that, life has been chugging right along. It's 'finals' now. Which really is just the final 2 weeks before our projects are due. So expect to see me post something in the next couple of weeks.
