Front Room Floor Refinishing Project (FRFRP)

Dec 29, 2010 17:44

Monday 12/27 - Started FRFRP. I'm dividing the room in thirds and just moving the furniture around to free up one section at a time. We pulled up the carpet and removed the tack strips and staples. I've started stripping the area from the front door to the kitchen. It's not as bad as we expected. Only one high traffic area is pretty rough looking. The grain is very open. It turns dark when it's wet. It'll take some sealing and sanding on that area. It's only about 2 by 4, so it won't be that hard to fix. I had more that that in the hall.

Wednesday 12/29 - Finished stripping the floor. Well, there are spots that need some work, but I ran out of light and energy. I may have enough of the varnish off that I can get the rest when I sand the floor. If I do have to strip some spots, I can be sanding while the stripper is working. It's been a lot of put down stripper, wait, clean it up and put down 2nd coat, wait, wash it up, wait, move to next area and repeat. Tomorrow the sanding starts.
