I'm generally optimistic, but I think some people who voted for that ass are going to get what they deserve. And I think they're going to be shocked when they do.
A friend from medical school who is much more religious than me posted the quote from Revelations about following a false prophet and wearing his mark on their heads and the meme had the quote right over a maga hat. I wanted to share that so much (but also am not ready to end my relationship with 98% of my family) My fear is more for my job because of what they'll want me to teach in science
I know Revelations - that thought has been on my mind, what with the hats and when his sheep were wearing bandages on their ears after the so-called assassination attempt. (Have you ever seen a wound on his ear? I haven't.) I understand your dilemma - the idiots on my father's side of the family are all cult members, and would probably stone me if I said anything against Dear Leader.
Except for my brother Zonker, we're estranged from Dad's side of the family and the youngest brother, all because of the cult of Trump. Since we're all in CA and they're in TN, holidays are spent with ourselves and occasionally friends. And that's fine with me.
that's what I usually do. I'm telling my brother when he shows up here to the hocking hills on monday if he brings up trump I'm driving back home (I only live 50 miles from the cabin we're all going to)
which I'm struggling to make them see this isn't a joke to me (I think Dad finally gets it. After the election he asked are you okay. I said no and politics have not been mentioned since but then again we have his brother slowly dying to talk about)
To too many of these guys it's just about "owning the libs". That's such a selfish and immature attitude, it makes me sick. At least your dad is showing a bit of sensitivity.
Like my mother, a Massachusetts Kennedy Democrat. After we left home, my dad had Fox News on 24/7, and she went full-on Stockholm Syndrome and became a True Believer.
Same (hugs)

yeah it's going to be a miserable christmas. I decided I'm probably passing on Thanksgiving.
and no, I have seen no scar on the ear (though I'm glad my cousins didn't end up at that rally, they were going)

Yeah that's a bit easier. I think I might be the last democrat in my family so I would have to leave everyone and be entirely alone so it's hard

Yeah, I feel your dilemma. Maybe just leave the room when Trump comes up. Perhaps they'll get the idea...

That a great idea. It's your mental health at stake, after all!
