Toilets and Industrial Design

1. I remember my History of Design teacher speaking about how English (UK) toilets have a different design than American toilets, and ends up with lots of skid marks because the pool of water is much smaller. They also splash much more because they are deeper. This was fixed in America, but British manufacturers decided not to adopt the new changes. I'm remembering my old 'Grossology' book now.

Mostly correct, except the splash on US toilets is actually less, because of the slope, it hits a shallow end and then rolls into the deep end.
