Does it have any merit at all to be sane? Except getting lots of headaches.

Sanity only works if you don't take an active interest in things that don't directly concern you. :D

That normally works quite well, when it involves your normally sane parents going insane it's a little harder to not take an active interest.

But we stayed sane by staying in bed until they were better. That was a good idea.
