I have finished! I have finished the final book in the Master and Commander series. The twentieth book ended in such a richly enjoyable manner, so quick and so happy. It absolutely lived up to the promise of it's title, Blue at the Mizzen. I must say the ending is so nice that even though it does not give me the future of the characters, I am not inclined to read the half finished 21st book.
Oh, I owe
trinityofone an eternal debt for introducing me to these books. For loaning them to me as well. Six or seven thousand pages of purely delightful entertainment. The wonderful characters: Jack, Stephen, Sophie, Diana, Pullings, Bonden, Killick, Joe Plaice and Awkward Davies, Sir Joseph and Heneage Dundas, and dozens more. O'brian was a truly masterful writer. He has displayed a complete and wonderful world to me, a world that actually existed, and done so with more moments of suspense, excitement, humor, mirth, and friendship than I could possibly count.
I highly higly higly recommend to anyone to try the first two books, Master and Commander and Post Captain.
Emidala, did you try them like you once intended?
Taurendur, if you were serious about wanting to try them I am so very much buying the first few for you. Whew, finally done. Only took about 15 months. What next? Why
Nenar's loaned copy of the first Song of Ice and Fire book of course. Ah, I love books.
