Tonight I saw an amazing concert.
The opening act was L.A.'s own Phantom Planet.
Sing it, Alex!
And their big hit...
Then came the guy we all wanted to see (except for two girls who apparently became uninterested after PP left). He came out in darkness and we heard a distinctive "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen." Then the lights come up, and Message in a Bottle fills our ears.
Next he informed us that he had written a song called "Spirits in a Material World" and Madonna had ripped it off. He ripped it back.
He told us specifically that he was here to play songs he hadn't done in years. So we got treated to some gooduns, like Synchronicity II.
He also treated us to some slower ballads to keep things in a variety.
And we got "King of Pain" as well.
The lighting, as you can see, was incredible. In fact, the back wall even was made to look like the inside of a cave at one section of the concert.
Sadly we didn't get anything off the Brand New Day album, but we did get the 1993 treat of "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You."
Now here's a random shot of them all rocking out.
Sting was even nice enough to take a picture with me!
He paid tribute to the Beatles and played "A Day in the Life," which was spectacular.
But, all good things must pass, and so Sting went out with a bang. Named Roxanne.
Take a bow, Sting. You've earned it.
Ah, and that was that.
OR WAS IT?!
We clapped our little hearts out and he gave us a few encore songs.
To close his 3 song encore set, he got a lil creepy with the haunting "Every Breath You Take."
He bade us goodnight and made his way offstage once more, and a fine end to the concert it was.
OR WAS IT?!
We lured him back for a second encore, and one last bash.
He took a final bow and made his way back. Good stuff. And I suppose that was that.
OR WAS IT?!
Yes, actually, it was.
Consider me stung.
