So, I tried an experimental recipe for biscuits last Monday, and again tonight. They turned out transcendently good. The recipe:
Sour cream biscuits
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
Dash salt
1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 stick butter
1 tbsp milk or water
Preheat oven to 450 F. Sift together 1 cup flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and a dash of salt. With a pastry cutter or fistful of knives, cut in 1/3 cup sour cream and 1/3 stick butter until thoroughly mixed. The result should be very crumbly. Add just enough milk or water (about a tablespoon) to moisten and get the mixture to form a true dough.
Knead briefly, flatten to about half an inch, and cut into biscuits. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet until browned, 12-15 minutes. Makes about 7 biscuits.
