Blink

Steven Moffat's Blink was, quite simply, brilliant. It was so good, I hardly even care that the Doctor was only in it for about seven minutes -- Sally Sparrow was written and acted so well I found myself wishing she could join the TARDIS crew by the end of the episode. This, following Human Nature and The Family of Blood, has made this for me possibly the best three-week run of Doctor Who so far.

Then I looked back at last year and the year before, and realized that in the same three-week slot (episodes 8, 9, and 10) we were treated to Father's Day, The Empty Child, and The Doctor Dances in 2005, and The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit, and Love & Monsters in 2006. There's consistently a late-season run where the casting, the writing, and the direction all fall into place and combine to form absolutely fantastic television! (And I don't think it's a coincidence that the writers of those episodes in 2005 and 2007 were Paul Cornell and Steven Moffat -- I'm in awe of their abilities.)
