Natalya

I purchased an AK-74 (not a 47, yes there is more than one AK) recently. Decided to name her Natalya. Anyway, took all three guns out to the range today. Oh my gosh that was fun. Natalya is great to shoot, there's virtually no recoil, she's easy to aim and pretty accurate. I got several bulls eyes at 25 yards and stayed on the paper (25 yard rifle target) at 50.  I really enjoy having a magazine fed semi-automatic rifle. Not that I don't enjoy Alexsey, but semi-auto is just fun.

Speaking of Alexsey, while I was at the range a guy showed up with another Mosin-Nagant, his was a m44. Alexsey is a m91/30, the difference between the two is about six inches of barrel. The m44 is shorter and was considered a carbine at the time. The bayonet is even shorter on the m44! Anyway, we traded rifles and I got to shoot the m44. I want one now, hehe. The m44 is like shooting the m91/30 only more.  More everything. More noise, more recoil, more flash. It was broad daylight and you could see the muzzle flash! I've heard about m44s, since the barrel is cut down an extra six inches the powder doesn't burn up completely before leaving the barrel, but I've never experienced it before.  Anyway the m44 was fun.

Also got to shoot a Winchester model 1894, which is a lever action chambered in 30-30. That was also very fun. I love lever guns, one of these days I will buy one.

And the list keeps on growing....

FN Henstral FS2000

Smith and Wesson 586

A lever-action rifle

M44

M1 Garand

M14 or M1A

And probably a .22 at some point...

Unfortunately, I have declared that I am not buying any more guns until after I pay off all my loans.  Mar mar mar... Oh well. Alexsey, Edana and Natalya should be enough to keep me happy in the meantime.  Natalya especially as she's the cheapest of the three to shoot.  Its a shame I can only shoot at paper now though. I miss shooting in my backyard in Ohio. No rules against rapid fire or mag dumping, or using reactive targets.  Much more fun to shoot things that break than to put holes in paper.  Though there is a certain satisfaction in a tight grouping, which isn't something you can get shooting at a TV.

If you enjoyed reading about guns, feel free to buy me any of the above mentioned guns as a token of appreciation.
