Better late than never, right? From 12/30/08.

Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport, automated weather, 1-8-2-3 Zulu.
Wind: 250 at 5.
Visiblity: 10.
Sky conditino: clear.
Temperature 16, dewpoint -9.
Altimiter: 30.02.

How could I not go flying on a day like that? Off to the airport with anatomiste in the right seat (such bravery!) to knock the rust off my skills and maybe get her a few pictures in the process.

Be gone, summer haze and clouds. It may be cold, but winter does have a few redeeming features...

Behold, your Homeland Security tax dollars at work. Right next to this sign was an open gate to the parking lot, without a single person in sight to stop you from driving right onto the ramp. Think about the injustice of this next time you're waiting in the security line with your shoes off for three hours.

The star of today's show: N95300, a Cessna 152 that's about six months older than I am. Remember, this little toy plane is the cheaper alternative at $80/hour.

With everyone's favorite person for scale:

Interior shot (are you getting the hint yet?). And you thought airline seats were tiny...

Also note the complete lack of all of those nice computer screens I've become so used to.

"Burlington traffic, november 9-5-3-0-0 taking off runway 24, departing from downwind to the east." Just after takeoff, maybe 500' or so above the lake off the end of the runway.

Climbing out of Burlington, over the middle of nowhere. At least it's pretty middle of nowhere.

More middle of nowhere.

Apparently there is a river in the middle of nowhere.

And a lake.

And farms. Moooooooo....

Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. I wish I could've taken a picture this awesome myself...

More of UNC: the football stadium, and a building a couple of you might recognize.

The home of all things evil. EVIL.

And another familiar one. Why do I keep coming back here?

And sadly that's it. No time left to land in Chapel Hill, and my photographer's camera filled up while she was trying to film my landing in Burlington (just a few more seconds!). Oh well, it was fun, and we all walked away from the experience.
