I recommend reading this piece in Newsweek about Thomas M. Tamm, the FBI Agent who
revealed Dubya's illegal warrantless wiretap program to the NYT but I warn you that there seems to be some editorial battling for the tone of the piece.
While there are several instances, the best example would be this bit at the end:
"In judging Tamm's actions-his decision to reveal what little he knew about a secret domestic spying program that still isn't completely known-it can be hard to decipher right from wrong. Sometimes the thinnest of lines separates the criminal from the hero."
Considering the only defense we get for how his actions would be criminal/wrong in the piece is some weak "there are official whistleblower channels [that this administration was purposely sandbagging]" Lawful talk, it sticks out badly.
