Ah...yes, Aroryo (sp?) is being impeached by some ex-generals again in further allegations of corruption. Honestly, democracy isn't going to solve every country's goddamn problems, and just because people can suddenly vote isn't going to pull them up above the poverty line and put food on the table either.
On the other hand, I get the impression that with people like you, lynlyn and Reis, there must be a significant number of intelligent young women in your country who have access to decent higher education.
You know, there are a LOT of Fillipino ladies in Hong Kong working as maids. On their days off (usually a Sunday), they congregate en masse at Victoria Gardens. My uncle said that place on Sundays is unoffically the 'new Manilla', which I think is cute.
>> True, but people don't really need excuses to be bitter and resentful and violent and general leechers, do they?
True, especially if the politicians are bogged down by political correctness and fuzzy 'multiculturalism'. I used to believe in multiculturalism, but after seeing how communities of people use 'multiculturalism' to retain the barbaric customs and traditions of their native country, I'm totally against it.
... Bah. I don't want to get started on that Arroyo thing. I'm an apathetic kid in a university full of activists, so yeah. And democracy? Hah, the country's too young to try out democracy. It's been barely twenty years since we got off dictatorship -- people can't fully grasp dictatorship yet. Couple that with a misunderstanding of what Catholicism is, you've got poor people who just condemns the government and relies on other people to live.

Our families can afford it, anyway. (Although, technically, my parents aren't spending anything because I'm in the state university). There are a lot of stupid people in our universities, though.
Heh. New Manila. XD That IS cute. Filipinoes are happy people, I think, and they can't ever pass up an opportunity to talk to fellow countrymen outside the Philippines.
Multiculturalism. You live in that country, so you better fucking follow that country's laws and rules. What's so difficult about that concept to understand? When you are in Rome, do as the Romans do! Being unique is well and good, but damn, human beings have brains for a reason. Common sense and logic aren't common anymore. You said it yourself -- if you don't like it, then leave the goddamn place already and go back to the hellhole you came from and regale in your own radical culture in however way you want. o_O Respecting one's own heritage is good, but there's always something to be said about moderation.
Feh. We don't have those problems here much, I guess. Luckily. The country's people are too happy for that. >_>;;
