It's starting to feel real. After a trip to the consulate today, I am now the proud possessor of a 12-month, multiple-entry, X-class (student) visa to the People's Republic of China. I also have a bottle of oral typhoid vaccine and a bandage on each shoulder covering a shot for Hep B (which I needed) and for tetanus (which I didn't, but which the doctor decided to give me anyway for some reason). This is starting to get exciting.
Also, if I'm lucky, I may even have an apartment! It's pretty unlikely, but my roommate, who's getting to Beijing significantly before I am, says he'll look to see if he can find anything good before school starts. If he doesn't, and we stay in the dorms for the first few months until we do find something, that's fine, but if we don't have to be in the dorms, that would be even better.
Nervousness, yes, but even more awesomeness. Less than a month until China!
