I wonder if, when I walk around, there's a big neon sign over my head, visible to everyone but me, that reads, "Clueless foreigner - please advise." It would certainly explain things.
Not that I'm complaining, of course - having random guys come up to me while I'm walking around and offer to help me interview people (and to translate my putonghua into Chongqing hua) is extremely useful - but it does get a bit disconcerting with how frequently it happens.
