I got the job I interviewed for last Thursday! A genuine day job! With benefits! And they're actually paying me MORE than I was expecting! I start April 19th. I can hardly believe it. I've been trying to get back into 'my' industry since I lost my job in August, and the tantalizing few leads I got in that time have mostly come to naught - but only after very long, drawn out periods of waiting.
My current job (the one where I work a night schedule that's driving me insane for very little money) has been better than nothing, but I really never anticipated doing it for more than 5 months. This is the sort of job I have been looking for for years, in the nick of time.
I'm going to be a regional sales rep for a manufacturer of advanced remote controls & control systems for the audio/video market. My territory is huge - Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana! Thankfully, that includes:
- Caid! Along with several other nice SCA Kingdoms, of course, but I am Caidan first. And I don't want to move just yet.
- Every place in the U.S. that I really want to live.
- New Orleans, my hometown and location of my Mom's side of the family.
- Denver, an awesome city and home of my best friend.
- Many other cool places and people I will be able to visit while work picks up the tab for flights and hotels!
Since Southern California is the biggest and busiest part of the market, I will still end up spending more time here than anywhere else. I'm supposed to be at home on Mondays, traveling Tuesdays-Fridays. Working on the weekends should be quite rare; an occasional trade show.
I am so very relieved.
