I was sitting in class just now, and I got really cold all of a sudden. I think 'Alyssa, you're not wearing a shirt!' Quite naturally I freak out, but I don't want to look down to see because then everybody will look and then and only then will they realize I'm not wearing a shirt. So, I get the idea to feel for the shirt, just in case it's there. I reach up my arm to see I could feel the fabric and don't feel anything. Now I know I'm screwed, but I reach up further because now I'm just desperate. Luckily I feel the sleeve this time. I had my shirt on the whole time.
It reminded me of the times in preschool when I'd think I wasn't wearing shoes...and that's why I couldn't look down to check. Because everyone would look down if you happened to look at your shoes, then there'd be that smart ass that would just yell 'Hey, everybody! Alyssa isn't wearing shoes!' Then they'd all agree on how lame I was.
Now, however, I know I'm lame. I don't need everybody else to agree upon it.
