While eating lunch this past Sunday, Grace announced some fact (I can't remember what she said and it isn't important because it is superfluous to the story) to which I replied, "where did you get that information?" Her response: "from my brain." Ah, the simplicity of raw intelligence.
Grace was Madeline for Halloween this year; the costume suited her. In fact, she won first prize in her class (PK-3)at the costume contest at school. She played the part, too. For weeks prior, she would make me call her Madeline. I would be Ms. Clavel or Pepito depending on whether or not Nana was around (she visited the previous weekend). Dan would either be Lord Cuckooface or Pepito depending upon my role.
And, of course, Molly was always Genevevre. If you are confused about who these characters are, Pepito is from Madeline and the Bad Hat (I think that's the title), Lord Cuckooface and Genevevre appear in the book where Madeline is rescued. I think it's called Madeline's Rescue. In the book, Genevevre rescues Madeline after she falls off the bridge and Lord Cuckooface sends the poor dog away. After Ms. Clavel and the girls search for and find the mongrel, we find out that Genevevre has been whoring around Paris and has a litter of puppies - conveniently one for each little girl. BTW, we live down the street from the library.
