I wonder how my odd quirks will effect Grace when she gets older. For example, we're at my mom and dad's and Grace announces that she has to poop and would like me to come with her. So, we go to the bathroom where she scoots herself onto "the pot" and tells me that she doesn't need me to be there anymore. I leave, and come back a few minutes later and ask if "the family" is out yet. She says, "no" and I leave. Moments later, I am summoned to the bathroom where I am told that "the family" is all out and they are having a birthday party in the toilet complete with presents and games. I help her clean herself, thinking our exchange is completely normal, while being amused and pleased by the use of her imagination; causing me to relate the story to my dad. Let me pause here to say that he is the one from whom I've learned terminology such as "the pot" for a toilet, among other phrases and ideas that have caused curious looks from others with whom I've engaged in polite conversation.

Dad hears the account and starts laughing, turns to me and says, "where does she get this stuff?" to which I reply, "we sort of work off each other." He gives me this, "it figures" look like I'm an alien from the planet Oddball. Huh? What, the... I'm flummoxed.
