In Which I am Infected
So... I have a kidney infection. After a hiatus of 17 years, I am now reacquainting myself with the joys of infection and bacteria.
For the uninitiated, I have had bladder and kidney problems since I was very small. I had surgery when I was six to correct the problem, and it has been a long time since I have had any problems or infections. I thought I was free.
But I think I am (partially) blaming the weather for the infection. See, it's been so cold that I let myself become dehydrated. You know, when it's cold, drinking water seems unappealing. However, my usual problem with dehydration is a headache. Not this time. This time, I got an infection.
Ugh. I had forgotten how much they hurt. As soon as I felt it, though, I knew what it was. After a visit with the urgent care doctor, I am the proud new owner of an official diagnosis and a prescription for an antibiotic.
Ask me in two days how I'm feeling. Right now, it's still pretty crummy. I have to give the meds a chance to work.
