Coming Out of the Closet (No, not THAT Closet!)

Oct 20, 2005 16:13

It started innocently enough: a small comment in my Literature, Culture, and Technology class blog about how I had a blog dedicated to those tenacious teddy bears known as Friedrick and Fluff. This comment elicited questions about the blog, and the query, "Would you mind posting the link?"

Now, with a name as unique as mine I harbor very few illusions about anonymity, but I wasn't sure that I wanted to publicly announce myself as a lunatic who imagined stories about stuffed animals and their periodic run-ins with Wayne Newton. So I hemmed. And I hawed. And some might say that I hummed, but it would just be their word against mine, and I KNOW WHERE YOU SLEEP, PUNK!

Ahem. Where was I? Ah, right here:

So, I was extremely hesitant to give my classmates the blog link. This week, however, I had to either get over that hesitancy, or... Well, I don't really know what the other choice was, but I am sure that I had one. I just chose to get over my hesitancy. Let me explain:

We had a "literacy and technology autobiography" due today, and we would not just be giving it to our professor, but making enough copies for the class. Oy. Vey. And the only autobiography I could think of that connected me to technology was the progression of the Friedrick and Fluff tales from pen and ink, to e-mail, to blog.

So I began writing, and it was the only story that worked. And so I made my photocopies and distributed them to the class. And now everyone in the class has a piece of paper talking about my obsession with teddy bears! And the address to the blog! Do I even need to say exactly how much I am freaking out right now? Because I think it's pretty obvious.

Let us all toast to Friedrick and Fluff, the blog, and my ever-growing insanity.
